NEXTSTOP NORTHAPTON: 'LT's Time Capsule'

In my conversation with LT Quickscope, I asked him what he felt his role was, as a young up-and-comer in the scene. He answered: “to make people laugh”.

His answer made me cynical. It's as if he has yet to get the memo. I felt to fill him in.

'Icy bravado' is what makes up the sauce in the hip-hop pedigree. Sure, Kanye and his pink polo helped a generation of hip-hop kid’s who fell short of the persona. These lot increasingly looked to new modes of expression in the genre they loved and listened to. But even 'Ye' couldn't quite handle. He’ll be the first to adopt any and every persona to face off the heat of scrutiny, It's the natural progression. If ever you catch yourself laughing hysterically at a "hiphop concert", you've maybe bought tickets to the wrong show.

However, In context LT Quickscope is from a generation where the quickest point to cut across is a Meme. With knowledge of modern history multiplied by internet speed, and suddenly his answer seems current, and even urgent.

We've heard, read, and seen every persona fall short. They've all been tried, tested, cancelled, and grown stale. And so, In this genre we love, LT seats as the boy in court calling out the emperor for roaming naked.

Bar and punchline layered with satire and story, he flaunts a healthy understanding of the market he chose, and the gap he hopes to bridge within in. He has earned every penny if he can make you sit, stand, bop and ultimately laugh at the meme-worthiness of our present time.

To provide you with a look at LT ’s creative aesthetic, and the possessions he holds timeless at this stage in his music evolution, I asked him to pick three items of personal effect to be buried in a time capsule for the next hundred years.
